School starts promptly at 09.00 and lessons finish at 15.25. In the Nursery, children attending for mornings only finish at 12.15 if they are of pre-Nursery age and 12.45 if they are of Nursery age. On Wednesday school finishes at 12.30 for our Foundation and Key Stage 1 children (Nursery – Year 2) and continues until 15.25 for Key Stage 2 as on every other day. There are no arrangements for care of children arriving before 08.30. Similarly, pupils should be collected from school within 15 minutes of the end of the school day ie by 15.40, or if they have attended an extra-curricular club, by 16.35 unless a prior alternative arrangement has been made. There will be a charge for garderie for any child in garderie after 15.45. Children will not be released into the care of anyone other than a parent or nanny known to the school unless prior written notification has been received. Anyone unknown to the school will be asked to prove their identity. |

Clubs: The school offers a range of after-school clubs, varying from term to term and availability depending on numbers of children interested. Clubs are held immediately after school, usually until 16.30 (13.45 for a Wednesday lunchtime activity). Details of clubs are available from school. If there are no more places available in a particular club, a waiting list system operates for the following term. It is necessary that children attend clubs on a regular basis and that they are picked up from school promptly at 16.30. (Click here to visit the current clubs page)
Karate lessons, ballet lessons, piano lessons, violin lessons and other music tutors are available to children. These lessons are privately run, payment and times of lessons being arranged by the tutors concerned. |

Snacks: We have a mid-morning break and also a mid-afternoon breakbreak for children in the Nursery. Your child should bring something to eat, such as a piece of fruit or a cake or a biscuit and a drink. Please note that glass bottles or jars, cans of fizzy drinks, sweets, bubble and chewing gum are not allowed in school. Similarly , chocolate or chocolate covered items are strongly discouraged for reasons of health and practicability. The children staying after school in our Garderie, should also bring an afternoon snack. Lunches: Children should bring a packed lunch. The packed lunch should include sufficient drinks for the day.

BISB requires pupils to wear a uniform to schoolschool from the Reception class upwards . The uniform is appropriate and comfortable and gives children a sense of belonging to and pride in the school community. We wear the following:
Currently the jumpers, polo shirts and school (baseball style) caps can be ordered through the school. Grey trousers and skirts are available from Mothercare, Guilmot, Inno and Cyrillus. The uniform is not compulsory for children in the Nursery, but parents may wish to dress their child in a school sweatshirt and jogging trousers. These are the most practical types of clothing for small children, enabling the child to move freely and become independent using the toilet. |

It is helpful and beneficial if younger children wear clothing which they can easily fasten and unfasten themselves. Shoes fastened with velcro rather than laces are more appropriate for very young children. All items must be clearly labelled with the child's name. Labels can be ordered from Veritas and Mister Minit. Sew-on badges will be available as soon as possible. |
|
Jewellery Children should not wear any jewellery to school, such as bracelets, necklaces or long earrings. Children with pierced ears may wear simple studs or sleepers. Watches are allowed but must be removed for PE. Toys in School In order to avoid loss or damage, it is advised that children do not bring toys to school except on 'Show and Tell' days when toys such as guns, knives or swords which could be used for fighting games are not allowed. Older children are expected to look after their own personal property, including clothing (which should be clearly marked with their name).

We have a weekly assembly on Monday when the whole school from Reception to Year 6 come together. Assemblies are led by the Headteacher or other members of staff on a rotation basis. They are not religiously based although they are an important part of the personal and social education of our children, as they generally have a strong moral emphasis.

We have two main school productions during the year. One at Christmas time, which is always a busy and exciting time in any school. The second one is in the summer as we end off our year together.
