Open Day - 10th October
This has been a week of lovely weather so lots of outside time for the children before the cold winter weather arrives. Next week we seem to have some unpredictable hot weather returning on Tuesday and Wednesday so please make sure your children are dressed appropriately.
As the weather is so changeable at the moment the children are coming to school in a jumper but removing it as the day gets warmer. Please make sure that all your children’s clothing is named. We can return lost items to the correct owner if there is a name in it, but otherwise it is likely to be lost and you may not get it back.
We will be having an Open Day on Saturday October 10th for families looking for a new school to come and visit BISB. Please encourage people you know who are seeking a school place to come and look around.During the next school holiday, the Tech and Play team will be running a holiday camp at BISB during the second week from 26th October to 30th October. Here is the link to the registration page on their website https://www.mytechnplay.com/holiday-camps-in-brusselsLast week we started our after school clubs and each club is well supported, although there are still a few spaces available if you would still like to sign your child up for a club.
There continues to be a virus going around school this week with a large number of children absent. Please do keep your child at home if they are not well and only send them back when they are completely better, otherwise the virus just continues to spread. Thank you to those parents who have kept their children at home when they are unwell.
Starting from next week I am changing the regular Friday coffee morning to a Friday coffee afternoon. This will be from 2.15pm until school pickup time. I realise that in the morning many people are rushing off to work whereas in the afternoon everyone has to be here for the school pickup and may be able to come slightly early for a cup of coffee or tea. I am planning to have a discussion session once a month on a topic that is relevant to our children and I will invite some members of staff to join in these discussions.
I am organising a family day trip to the Aachen Christmas market on Saturday November 28th. We plan to leave from Square Plasky at 9am and aim to return to Square Plasky at 6.30pm which will give everyone plenty of time to wander around the market and Aachen. It will cost 35 euros per seat, which includes the return travel, the parking and a tip for the driver. The coach has 50 seats so it will be “first come first served”, so if you would like to join the trip please email me at headteacher@bisb.org saying how many people will be in your group. In order for the trip to go ahead we need to fill the bus, so if you have friends and colleagues who are not part of BISB you are welcome to bring them along.
The week beginning October 12th we will be celebrating pumpkins so everyone is invited to bring a pumpkin to add to the display. There are many different types of pumpkins at this time of the year so we want to see the most original ones that you can find, pretty, ugly, unusual, big, small…Please do not carve them as we want to appreciate their natural beauty. The carved ones go rotten and smelly very quickly.
Please do remember to check the Classlist messages that come from your child’s teacher as they usually have lots of lovely photos of the week’s activities.
