Book swap café and Open Day
This has been a mixed week weather wise, it has been cooler which has been very welcome, but the badminton club on Tuesday was disturbed by a thunderstorm. The children all came to school with various stories about the storms over the weekend, some were excited about them and some were afraid! Congratulations to Mrs Davies who was very grateful for the cooler weather as she completed the Brussels 20km run on Sunday, although she will add she walked rather than ran but this wa

Inter-schools football tournament
This has been a shorter week than normal but a very hot one! The weather seems to be becoming more erratic and unpredictable as next week is forecast to be relatively cool and the weekend looks to be stormy! Thank you to everyone for making sure that their child had plenty of water, sunscreen and a hat. The coffee morning today was another very enjoyable gathering where we learnt from each other about different types of tea, and it was amusing to hear different people's appro

SUPERTMATIK Mental Math International Competition
Welcome back to school and I hope everyone is well rested and ready for the challenges of the summer term. It looks as though the summer weather is arriving next week. It has been a busy week as always in school with the children excited to be back with their friends. We have also welcomed some new families to our BISB community, which is always a pleasure. In 2007, EUDACTICA created The SUPERTMATIK Mental Math International Competition, a contest based on the SUPERTMATIK Men

Earth Day
I can’t believe we have reached the end of this term, which has been an action packed one in which the children at BISB will have fostered many fond memories. For some, the school residential trip was the highlight as this was the first time they had been away on their own for an overnight stay. There was the beautiful blossom which everyone enjoyed and many more memorable moments. Now everyone deserves a good break to recharge their batteries before next term. The coffee mor

BISB Chess championship
Another busy week has flown by and it seems incredible that next week is the last one before the two week Spring Break. The weather has been pleasant and we have enjoyed another week with beautiful blossom in our neighbourhood. The week has seen the children in Year 1 and 2 planting the beans they grew in pots in the classroom outside, so maybe if they are lucky and look after them properly they might get some beans to taste. The Year 1 and 2 children also finished sewing the

Magic of Cherry Blossom
This has been a shorter week than normal but what an amazing week this has been weatherwise. It seems the sun shone just to highlight the beautiful cherry blossom in the streets around our school. Both Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 went out on blossom walks on Friday, so took full advantage of this beautiful time of the year. I saw lots of people taking photographs around the school so I hope you have lots of lovely memories. Next week the blossom will start to fall and it can

Tournesol Zonnebloem Boitsfort and Chat Botté
What a week this has been, lots of new experiences for many children and parents. Some parents waved their children off on Monday on the school journey and for many it was the children’s first time away on their own. When I popped out to De Haan on a couple of occasions during the week I saw very happy children having a great time so I am sure they will not stop talking all weekend about their adventures. They have all returned looking happy and full of chatter and stories ab

Banad Festival and Residential Trip
Despite the cold weather this week it is Spring and the cherry trees in Avenue Emile Max are starting to blossom, so next week should see our street at its most beautiful. You don’t need to travel to Japan to see cherry blossom! This weekend is the Banad festival throughout Brussels and many people will be visiting our Acorn building to look at the beautiful art deco features. Our school is housed in one of the most famous art deco buildings in Brussels. I think most of the t

Spring Walk in the Woods
We end this week with a beautiful sunny day, which looks to be the start of a weekend of lovely weather. As I look out of my window, I can see the Reception children enjoying parachute activities in the sunshine. We wish all our Muslim families a very Happy Eid al Fitr as they celebrate the end of Ramadan. We had a very jolly coffee morning today from which we could hear the delightful sounds of the School Council organising the Book Swap. This was a great initiative in which

Lively Coffee Morning
We finished this week with a very wet and windy Friday but we had a lively coffee morning today, discussing various topics so the rain didn’t seem so bad! Thank you to everyone who came along and I hope you enjoyed the gathering as much as I did. The children from the Junior department did not go out to the park today for activities because of the weather but they took the time to get started on their potato planting. This was very successful last year so let’s hope they can

World Book Day
What an exciting week back at school this has been. Firstly, the sun shone every day, which really made us all feel that Spring is on the way. The dressing up day for World Book day was a very successful day with all the staff and children dressing up as different characters. Mary Poppins led the younger children skipping around the playground as she flew off with her umbrella and Captain Haddock supervised the older children's parade around the Oak playground.A big thank you

This week at BISB
The past few weeks have been full of energy and creativity across the school, and as we look ahead, there is even more for our children to enjoy and explore. Next week we’ll be celebrating STEAM Week, with children taking part in daily workshops across Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Maths. They’ll be exploring new ideas, experimenting, and learning with different teachers throughout the week. Everything will come together on Friday 13th, when children from Year 1 t
