Wow! What a week this has been with Science going on all around us. The children in both buildings have had an amazing time and I would like to thank Miss Bird, our Science Coordinator, and all the staff for the wonderful science experiments the children have worked on this week. All the children from Nursery to Year 6 visited different teachers on a rotation basisto try the various, different experiences. The STEAM week concluded with the children presenting to parents their projects that they had worked on at home - brilliant.
The school council organised the ‘Love Books, Valentine’s Café’ to celebrate the National Year of Reading 2026. This was a very successful way to end the STEAM presentation afternoon, and a total of 134 euros was raised, which was a very commendable effort. Thank you to everyone who sent goodies in for the children to put into their Café and thank you to the School Council for organising it. They are going to choose books to add to the library. The School Council in the Junior Department is made up of representatives from each class which changes on a termly rotation. They meet to discuss many topics relating to life in school and feed back to their respective classes.

We had a very jolly coffee morning today and discussed many interesting topics, finding out about customs in different countries. It is interesting to hear where everyone is going on holiday and also to share information about places in Belgium that are good to visit.
Please note that after the two week holiday it will be Years 1 and 2 who go swimming at NATO starting on Wednesday March 4th.
This year’s residential trip for Year 3 to Year 6 will take place at the Belgian coast from Monday March 30th to Friday April 3rd. There will be an information meeting for parents on Friday March 6th at 2.30pm. At the meeting the schedule will be outlined, and you can ask any questions about the trip. For many children the school journeys are some of their most memorable experiences from their schooldays. You are encouraged to come along to this meeting.
We are currently experiencing a higher level of enquiries for school places at BISB than 12 months ago. Therefore, we have already started sending out invoices for next year’s school fees. Most families pay school fees monthly via a domiciliation arrangement and the normal payment schedule is in ten months ending in February each year. Whether your initial payment is in March, April or May the second payment always takes place in June to fit in with this schedule. Also if you know you are leaving, please let us know as soon as possible.
This year World Book Day is on March 5th 2026 so to celebrate this we will be asking the children to come to school dressed as their favourite book character on Friday March 6th. We decided it was better to have the dressing up day on the Friday so that it finishes off the week. This is the same day as the residential meeting.
The Karate club will start on Thursday afternoon March 5th after the holiday, for those who have registered. It will run for 7 weeks at a cost of 8 euros a session. Children can wear their PE clothes to attend the club.
