Tech & Play after school club
This has been another busy week in the life of BISB with a hot spike in the weather midweek. The weather is very strange these days but hopefully it will start to settle down soon. There are signs of Autumn appearing so please help your children notice them on your way to and from school and when you are out and about.
The Junior department were lucky to have good weather for their skills Friday outing to Josaphat Park today, to enjoy a range of sporting activities and challenges. Judging by the photographs they had a wonderful time.
This week the school had a promotional table at the NATO Welcome Fair and there were some very nice comments about the good behaviour of our children when they go swimming there on Wednesday afternoon. Mrs Davies and I received lots of comments about how lovely our school looks from the photographs.
We will be having an Open Day on Saturday October 10th for families looking for a school to come and visit BISB. Please encourage people you might know, who are seeking a school place, to come and look around.
During the next school holiday, the Tech and Play team will be running a holiday camp at BISB during the second week from 26th October to 30th October. Here is the link to the registration page on their website https://www.mytechnplay.com/holiday-camps-in-brussels
This week we started our after school clubs and each club is well supported, although there are still a few spaces available if you would still like to sign your child up for a club.There has been a virus going around school this week with children having a fever and also vomiting. Please do keep your child at home if they are not well. It’s better for them to miss one day of school and get better, than to struggle in and then have to be away for a few days. Thank you to those parents who have kept their children at home when they are unwell.
Starting from next week I am changing the regular Friday coffee morning to a Friday coffee afternoon. This will be from 2.15pm until school pickup time. I realise that in the morning many people are rushing off to work whereas in the afternoon everyone has to be here for the school pickup and may be able to come slightly early for a cup of coffee or tea. I am planning to have a discussion session once a month on a topic that is relevant to our children and I will invite some members of staff to join in these discussions.
The school is hosting two Erasmus students from Turkey for the next 2 months. They are Miss Bethul and Miss Aysenur so if your child is mentioning these names this is who they are referring to. We wish them a very pleasant stay in Belgium and we hope they will enjoy their time at BISB.
I am planning to organise a day trip to Aachen Christmas market on Saturday November 28th. I hope to have more details by next week. Germany is famous for its Christmas Markets and we went last year. It was a very pleasant day out for all those who came along so save the date in your diaries.
If you would like to contact your child’s teacher, please use the email address below. These emails are replacing the individual staff emails to simplify communication and will be used going forward. These will be checked by the relevant class teachers on a regular basis but please do not expect an immediate reply.
