I can’t believe we have reached the end of this term, which has been an action packed one in which the children at BISB will have fostered many fond memories. For some, the school residential trip was the highlight as this was the first time they had been away on their own for an overnight stay. There was the beautiful blossom which everyone enjoyed and many more memorable moments. Now everyone deserves a good break to recharge their batteries before next term.
The coffee morning today was great fun and very well attended so thank you to everyone who came along.
The Acorn department children had a visit from a bee keeper during the week who told them all about looking after bees and let them taste some of the honey from his bees.
The Reception children were delighted to see three of their cocoons hatched into butterflies. Hopefully before the end of Friday we might see more butterflies emerging.
The Key Stage 2 children took advantage of the beautiful weather and walked to Georges Henri Park for their Skills Friday activities.
All these activities linked in with Earth Day on Wednesday April 22nd which is becoming an increasingly important day as we all work together to preserve our planet. Well done to everyone who travelled to school using a means other than a car. Also a big thank you to everyone who came dressed in bright colours to reflect our lovely world. Days like this are important to highlight to our children the importance of looking after our planet as the future belongs to them and we must all help each other to make it positive.
Something that came to my notice yesterday and is very important. When children go onto the street and pavement using a bike, roller blades or scooter, they must wear a bicycle helmet to protect their head in case they fall or are involved in an accident. This is also important if they are on a child seat at the back of your bike. Please be responsible parents and make sure this happens.
There will be scaffolding put up outside the Infant building in Ave Emile Max as there is some work being carried out over the school holiday. This will be in place for approximately 3 weeks so please be careful as you move around on the pavement.
Lucy has been our Social Media student in the Junior department for the last 3 months. Some of you will have met her at the coffee mornings. She has done some very interesting and informative work with our older students and we wish her well in her future career and hope that she pops in to see us from time to time.

Here is a message from Lucy with a song she made with the children:
"This song was produced during our Media Literacy lessons, in partnership with Ms. Di Fine, the music teacher, and Ms. Lucy our Media Educator intern (music here). Together with Year 5 and 6 students, we explored how to use AI more safely. We decided that creating a song would be an effective way for the children to engage with AI responsibly, while following creativity and clearly explained steps."
