Well this week has been gradually getting warmer and we definitely ended it in a very hot way. The children have all managed very well despite the heat and a great deal has been accomplished throughout the school. We had a very enjoyable coffee morning today with some interesting discussions. It is such a pleasure for me to meet you all in this relaxed way and thank you to everyone who comes along, I know your children like you to join in.

I was very pleased to see most of the children wearing shorts or skirts to school and bringing a hat as well as lots of water. The Early Years children had a wonderful waterplay day today, happily transferring water between containers and also playing with different coloured water and water with bubbles. Who needs a seaside when you can make your own?

The younger children also got the chance to watch the dress rehearsal for the Year1 and Year 2 show during Assembly time which, despite the heat, was very successful, so well done to them for managing in their costumes and remembering their lines and songs….maybe it was easier because it’s a seaside story!

The Junior children from the Oak building had a very enjoyable outing to the animal farm at Josaphat Park. They walked there and were able to touch the animals, which is always very exciting. They also had an interhouse cricket match earlier in the week to take advantage of the weather before it got too hot.

Please do look at the posts that the each teacher puts on Classlist as there are usually lots of photographs of activities the children have done during the week.

We must be getting close to the time when the Oak children harvest the potatoes each class has grown. I am looking forward to seeing what delicious things they make with them. I wonder how many they will get? Will they equal last year’s total or surpass it? Watch this space!

Please will you return all school library books and reading books next week so that we can get them sorted ready for next year.

This week Year 1 and 2 have really been working hard on their table manners and eating politely in a sociable way. It has been good to see which group has won the table flowers on each day. Well done everyone but keep it up as it is good preparation for when you visit a restaurant.

We look forward to seeing everyone at the Summer Family Festival tomorrow between 2pm and 4pm in the Acorn building. The weather looks to be good and the playground has a lot of shade. There will be things for the children to do while parents chat and meet each other and eat scones and strawberries. If you know of any parent who is looking for a school for next year, please bring them along with you tomorrow. I remind you that we offer a 500 euro referral bonus if a family joins the school after you have referred them.

Next week is show week.

The Junior children will be performing Hansel and Gretel on Tuesday June 23rd at De Lijsterbes theatre in Kraainem which is the same place as the Christmas show took place. The show starts at 5pm so please arrive before this start time.

The Year 1 and 2 show takes place on Thursday June 25th in the garden of the Acorn building starting at 1pm.

Football is the focus for many at the moment so this week’s thought has a football theme !
