We end this week with a beautiful sunny day, which looks to be the start of a weekend of lovely weather. As I look out of my window, I can see the Reception children enjoying parachute activities in the sunshine. We wish all our Muslim families a very Happy Eid al Fitr as they celebrate the end of Ramadan.
We had a very jolly coffee morning today from which we could hear the delightful sounds of the School Council organising the Book Swap. This was a great initiative in which all the children were really excited to bring their books along to swap. A brilliant way to encourage reading without having to buy new books. I am very proud of the way our children decide on projects and work together to carry them out, encouraged and supported by Mrs Bounds and the Junior teachers.

This Sunday, March 22nd we will be holding our Spring Walk in the Woods. The walk will start from the Africa Palace at the end of Avenue Tervuren and will last for approximately 2 hours. The 44 tram route is very picturesque and ends at the tram depot in Tervuren. You just have to cross the road at the crossing and walk straight to the steps of the Africa Palace. At the end of the walk, we will have an egg hunt for the children, or any parents who wish to take part! Everyone is welcome to come along and join what promises to be a lovely family day out.
All children should have brought home the school photographs that were taken in school last week. The instructions are attached in English at the back of the leaflet. If you have problems accessing your child’s photo, please let the school office know and we will help if we can.
I have noticed many children coming to school by scooter or bike which is good to see but please ensure that your child is wearing a bike helmet to protect their heads in case of an accident. This is also the case if they are in a child seat on the back of a parent’s bike.
It has been brought to my attention by some parents that there are pickpockets on some of the buses. This is the case in most big cities, and I am mentioning it to advise you to be vigilant with your bags and pockets if you travel by bus.
The children and staff in the Acorn building have been busy working on the very large display wall next to the staircase. The new display wall is all about books and the children have produced some very lovely drawings and paintings. It has been a real team effort and it has been so lovely to see how excited the children have been all week as they go up and downstairs admiring everyone’s efforts. Thank you to everyone who contributed.

Next weekend will be the Banad festival when the school Acorn building will be open to members of the public to come and admire the beautiful art deco features that we are lucky enough to enjoy every day. Anyone is able to join a tour, but you do need to book.
We will be holding our next Open Day for prospective parents on Saturday April 11th. If you know anyone who is looking for a school place, they are very welcome to come along, although they do not need to wait for the Open Day to visit because we do have people visiting the school at any time with an appointment. This year our end of year celebration will be a Summer Festival on Saturday June 20th in the afternoon. This will be held in the Acorn playground and there will be crafts and summer activities for the children to take part in and it will be a good way to come together and celebrate the year.
