Another busy week has flown by and it seems incredible that next week is the last one before the two week Spring Break. The weather has been pleasant and we have enjoyed another week with beautiful blossom in our neighbourhood.

The week has seen the children in Year 1 and 2 planting the beans they grew in pots in the classroom outside, so maybe if they are lucky and look after them properly they might get some beans to taste. The Year 1 and 2 children also finished sewing their little seed bags and invited the younger children to a parade to see their pretty bags.

The Reception children planted new geranium plants in the planters in the playground to brighten up their playground for the summer. We are also all waiting for the caterpillars in the Acorn classrooms to hatch out of their cocoons and turn into butterflies, let’s hope it happens before the break so that the children can release them into the garden.

The Junior department children have been busy too, with the Year 4 class enjoying a very interesting visit to an exhibition about Pompeii. They came back brimming with excitement about what they had seen and the VR experiences.

This week also saw the final of the Chess club and after many weeks of matches Saahithi was crowned as the BISB Chess champion for this year. Many congratulations to her and well done to everyone who joined the Chess club, helping to make it a healthy competition. Thank you to Mrs Tolentino for organising it, as it is so good in these times of computer games and screen time to see children playing board games.

Next week Wednesday April 22nd will be Earth Day. This year’s theme is Our Power, Our Planet and focuses on renewable energy. We are encouraging the children to come to school in their green jogging trousers and a bright coloured tee shirt to highlight the colours on our earth that surround us. The Junior children are going to try and encourage everyone to join in with a Walk and Roll Day where they come to school using a bike, roller blades, or a scooter. Join in if you can!

There will be a Tech and Play club for the Junior children on Monday as they missed one while they were on the Residential trip. The Infant children have finished. There will also be a Karate club on Thursday.

There is swimming for Year 1 and 2 on Wednesday. Please keep encouraging your children to undress and dress themselves independently as some of them seem to have forgotten how to over the last couple of weeks when we had no swimming!

There was a super turnout for the coffee morning today and I hope Mrs Davies enjoyed the morning as much as I do every Friday. Thank you to everyone who supports the Coffee Mornings.
