Magic of Cherry Blossom

This has been a shorter week than normal but what an amazing week this has been weatherwise. It seems the sun shone just to highlight the beautiful cherry blossom in the streets around our school. Both Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 went out on blossom walks on Friday, so took full advantage of this beautiful time of the year. I saw lots of people taking photographs around the school so I hope you have lots of lovely memories. Next week the blossom will start to fall and it can be quite slippery underfoot so do take care walking along the pavement.

What a great coffee morning we had today, lots of happy chatter and funny shared moments. Thank you to those who come along and made the coffee morning a very pleasant way to start the day every Friday.

Some of the teachers have asked me to mention to you that it is important that you monitor what, and how much time your children are spending watching videos or playing video games. As the weather gets warmer, I strongly encourage you to take advantage of some of the lovely parks and outside areas that Brussels has to offer.

Next Wednesday is the last day of the Chess club for this term and parents are invited to come along to the club in the Junior Department to watch the final of the chess competition and see who will be BISB’s Grand Master. The club starts at 3.30 and finishes at 4.30. You are welcome to come along at any time during the hour.

There will be swimming for Year 1 and 2 on Wednesday afternoon next week as the NATO pool is back in action.

There has been a big improvement in some people arriving at school on time however there are still too many children arriving late in the morning. This is very disruptive for the class teachers who start the lessons at 9am. It is important for all children to be in school for the start of the lesson so please will you catch an earlier bus if this is how you travel to school.

Tomorrow, we have our Open Day at BISB (from 10.00 to 14.00) and we have several families signed up to come along and visit the school. If you know anyone who is wanting a school place for September please encourage them to come along even if they haven’t told us they are coming. There are usually a few people who just drop by unannounced.

Dates to remember

Saturday April 11th BISB Open Day

Monday April 13th Reception to Montagne Magique

Wednesday April 15th Year 4 Pompeii Exhibition.

Friday 24th April End of Term

Monday 11th May Start of Term

Thursday/Friday 14/15th May School closed public holiday

Friday May 29th Interschool football tournament

And finally my thought for the week has a blossom theme!

To finish off, I would like to wish you a very happy weekend and encourage you to go out into the parks and streets and make the most of this lovely time of the year.
